Statements: British citizens to be repatriated in response to Covid-19 (Coronavirus)

NHS Chief Executive Simon Stevens said

"As people from the Diamond Princess arrive from Japan they will be offered expert support and supervision back here from the NHS. These are demanding and unusual circumstances, so we're all very grateful to the exceptional NHS teams working at Arrowe Park and their wider partners, who are once again stepping-up to look after this new group of quarantined guests."

Janelle Holmes, chief executive of Wirral University Teaching Hospital said:

“Following the successful management of two previous groups of repatriated British citizens, from Wuhan in China, Arrowe Park has been asked to host a further group of Britons who are currently on a cruise ship in Japan, and to look after them throughout their quarantine period.

“Patients should be reassured that there is no risk to the public, the hospital is running normally, and appointments should be attended as usual.

“The response to this outbreak has required everyone to respond quickly to an evolving situation. We want to express our gratitude to those members of staff who have been affected and apologise for the ongoing inconvenience but also to thank all colleagues and partners for their continued support.”
