WUTH Charity Patient Wish Fund - Small Grant Round

We are delighted to announce that applications are now open for the Patient Wish Small Grant Round. Applications should be made in line with WUTH Charity’s mission and strategy set out below:

Our WUTH Charity mission is:

Together with our supporters and the public, we will improve the quality of WUTH’s patient and staff experience even further through raising funds to make a difference at our hospitals.

While patient experience, additional medical equipment and environment remain the main areas of benefit, we are pleased that WUTH Charity’s revised strategy 2023 – 2026 introduced staff wellbeing as a further area for support.

Submit completed applications to wuth.charity@nhs.net by 31st March 2025

To help and support staff with applications, there are three drop-in sessions planned as follows:

  • Wednesday 5 March 12 – 2pm Clatterbridge Hospital Main Entrance (opposite Switch)
  • Wednesday 12 March 12 – 2pm Arrowe Park Hospital in The Retreat
  • Wednesday 26 March 12 – 2pm Clatterbridge Hospital Main Entrance (opposite Switch)

Key information and guidance for applicants

For applications to be considered, the following criterion must be met:

  • Your application must be for services / support / initiatives at WUTH (any site) from the Patient Wish Fund exclusively*
  • Your application must seek to further improve the quality of WUTH’s patient care or staff wellbeing by the purchase of additional medical equipment, improvement of Trust facilities or be for the direct enhancement of patient and staff experience in other imaginative ways.
  • Applications in support of for patient care and experience can be submitted for a grant up to a maximum of £2K.
  • Applications in support of staff wellbeing can be submitted for a grant up to a maximum of £500.
  • Your application should be signed off by a Named Lead - this will be verified upon submission.

 

Tips for completing your application

  • Discuss your idea with your Line Manager and seek support from the Fundraising Manager or Charity Team if needed.
  • Check WUTH procurement processes before applying, as certain purchases may have specific requirements. If unsure, speak to your Line Manager, Finance Business Partner, or Procurement Team.

What Happens Next?

  • A panel will review all applications by mid-April.
  • Decisions will be announced by the end of April / beginning of May 2025.
  • All applicants will be contacted regarding the outcome of their bid.
  • Approved funds should ideally be spent within 3 months.
  • Successful applicants must complete a monitoring and evaluation form provided by the Charity and share updates on how the funding has made an impact through case studies/ and or news stories.
