Seacombe Birth Centre (freestanding Midwife Led Unit)

With a birthing pool, a birthing chair, bean bags and an adjustable birth bed the birth unit at Seacombe Children’s Centre provides a safe, family-friendly environment for women who don’t want a home birth but would prefer to avoid the medical setting of a hospital.

You will be cared for by one of the Highfield Birth Team, who are a small, experienced group of midwives focusing solely on low-risk women having their baby at home or in the birthing centre. No overnight facilities are available and you will be encouraged to go home from the birth centre when both you and your baby are ready, which is usually between 2-4 hours after the baby is born. You may bring up to three birthing partners to support you. Children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the birth centre.
