As a Delivery Suite Shift Leader, Hannah Horne makes sure the service runs like clockwork, with responsibility for staffing and the delivery suite environment. It’s a job-share and she works 18.75 hours a week alongside colleague Emma Rohlmann. “I’m responsible for managing and supporting staff and the service generally, but I also get to do some work as a regular midwife, delivering babies on the delivery suite. I really enjoy the role, upholding the high standards of care provided by the team.”
During her career Hannah has been a continuity care midwife; a rotational midwife on the delivery suite, maternity ward and midwifery led unit; she has worked in the antenatal clinic and maternity day unit; and trained and worked as a perinatal mental health specialist midwife.
“I got into midwifery because I wanted to look after people, and doing that at such an important time in a woman’s life is something I have always been very passionate about. I’ve had many different midwifery roles during my career and I’ve loved them all. I started training at WUTH in 1999, and after returning in 2004 I’ve been here ever since. It’s a great place to work and the fantastic teamwork is a massive part of that. I care about my colleagues, and I know they care about me. We get some amazing feedback from our service users, and I love the fact that the Trust is on a continual improvement path to develop our services and provide the best care we can to pregnant and new mums and their families.”
