Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU)

Enhancing Patient Experience with BSL Interpreting

Welcome to the first-ever BSL video - Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU) from Wirral University Teaching Hospital (WUTH)! We are excited to introduce this new initiative designed to improve patient experience and empower you to take control of your follow-up care.

What is PIFU?

Patient Initiated Follow Up (PIFU) is an innovative approach that allows you, the patient, to initiate follow-up appointments as needed, rather than adhering to a pre-set schedule. This ensures that you receive care when it’s most necessary for you, reducing unnecessary visits and providing a more personalised healthcare experience.

Benefits of PIFU:

  • Empowerment: Gives you more control over your healthcare journey.
  • Convenience: Reduces unnecessary trips to the hospital, saving you time and effort.
  • Efficiency: Frees up healthcare resources, allowing us to focus on those who need care the most.
  • Personalised Care: Ensures you get the attention you need, when you need it.

Celebrating Our First BSL Interpreted Video

In response to valuable feedback from our Deaf service users, we are proud to present this video with British Sign Language (BSL) interpretation. This is a significant step towards making our services more accessible and inclusive for everyone in our community.
