Having an operation (adults)

During your stay with us, it is important you prepare for your visit as best you can.

Please take time to read the helpful information for inpatients and day-cases below. It explains how to prepare for your visit and what you can expect on the day.

Process during the COVID-19 pandemic

Patient safety is our priority and we have strict processes in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to protect patients.

Due to the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community at this time we are urging people where possible to travel by car or taxi when attending hospital for a procedure (e.g. an operation).

This applies to both Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals for any patients attending for an elective procedure, including your COVID-19 swab and pre-op appointment if your pre-op is within your 10-day isolation period.

Support for frail or vulnerable patients or visitor

Should you need assistance from the front entrance to a specific area of the hospital, you can book a volunteer assistant to meet you at the main entrance and escort you. A wheel chair can be provided if required. This service is available Monday – Friday between 0900 – 1600 at Arrowe Park Hospital. Please see the online booking form below.

If you require an ambulance to bring you to your assessment, this should be arranged through your General Practitioner.

If you require an interpreter then please contact us as soon as possible so we can make the necessary arrangements.
