Raj Rajamma is a professional nurse advocate (PNA), who has been a nurse at WUTH for three years. “The Trust has supported me in training to become a PNA and I love this aspect of my role”, he said. “Being a PNA is all about looking after the wellbeing of the nurses in my team. At times working as a nurse can be challenging and I put things in place to help reduce stress and prevent burnout. For example I have one-to-ones with them so they can reflect on their feelings, and I run team-building and mindfulness sessions too.”
Raj is ambitious about developing his nursing role. “I’ve always wanted to be someone who can create positive changes. I know that my team members really value the support I have put in place and it gives me a tremendous feeling to know I’m making a difference.”
