Cancer Research
Research is vital in order to provide evidence to improve treatment for patients within our care. We ask suitable patients to participate in different types of research. The types of research can vary from a clinical trial (to test a new drug or to test a licensed drug in a different way), to asking patients to complete a simple questionnaire regarding their quality of life. We undertake cancer research that is sponsored by national charities or academic institutions.
Our Trust actively supports and encourages cancer research and is keen to increase the number of patients recruited onto a research study. It is doing this by increasing the number and type of studies open. We participate in a variety of cancer research studies and many of our doctors engage in research; they are supported by research nurses and administrative staff based within the Research Department.
