Children's School Age Occupational Therapy Team
Children’s Occupational Therapists are experienced clinicians who work with children and their families to help develop and maximise safety, independence and functional skills in everyday tasks when children are affected by injury, illness, developmental delay and other disabilities.
We work closely with families to give them the skills and confidence to help their child’s development at home, provide appropriate equipment, offer advice and recommendations to adapt the environment, or refer to other agencies for adaptations at home and school. We provide assessment and advice around manual handling difficulties.
Occupational Therapists will liaise with other agencies such as housing associations or school staff to provide or gather further information. We work closely with paediatricians, physiotherapists, social workers and education professionals to provide a team approach and holistic assessment.
We are committed to early intervention for children and where possible work to prevent or minimise the effects of any problems, looking to maximise the functional outcomes for all children.
We work in a variety of locations, including special and mainstream schools and children's homes.
