Urogynaecology

 

UROGYNAECOLOGY 

We offer a comprehensive service for women of all ages who suffer with problems such as bladder incontinence and prolapse of the genital organs and work in tandem with the Wirral Integrated Continence Service. 

Patients suffering with bladder incontinence and prolapse of the genital organs will often be assessed first by the Wirral Integrated Continence Service to establish the extent of their problem and initial treatment instigated before being seen in one of our outpatient clinics.  After assessment in clinic, you may be referred for investigations and treatments in one of our various clinics for things such as overactive bladder, stress urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapses, interstitial cystitis, recurrent urinary tract infections and urinary voiding dysfunction. 

 

Clinics 

  • Consultant Urogynaecology clinics

    Providing initial assessment and ongoing management of patients experiencing urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapses or lower urinary tract disorders. 

 

  • Urodynamics/flow clinics 

    Run by Specialist Nurses this clinic provides investigations to demonstrate how the bladder works.  It can help us to identify the cause of your incontinence problems. 

 

  • Bladder Specialist Nurse clinics

    The Specialist Nurses see patients in this clinic for things such as bladder retraining, clean intermittent self-catheterisation, bladder instillations and bladder scanning. 

 

  • Vaginal Pessary Clinics

    For management of women with vaginal pessaries which are used for treatment of pelvic organ prolapse. 

 

  • Botox/Bulkamid clinics

    Consultant led clinics for the treatment of patients with demonstrated overactive bladder/urinary stress incontinence 

 

 

Appointments 

Patients should be referred directly to this service by their GP or other health professional. 

 

Opening Times 

Monday - Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm 

 

Where are we based? 

Clinics are held in the Women’s Outpatient Department on the ground floor of the Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital and urodynamics and botox/bulkamid clinics are performed in the Gynaecology Treatment Centre (GTC).
