Care Standards
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) is the government body which regulates all health and social care providers.
As an NHS Trust we are required to meet the CQC’s ‘Essential Standards of Quality and Safety’. These are a set of 16 regulations which define what patients should expect to experience when they receive care from us.
We have a duty to monitor whether we are complying with these standards. If we believe we are not, we must inform the CQC immediately. Unannounced inspection visits can take place by the CQC on a regular basis. If this happens a report will be published with details of their findings. The CQC also have legal powers of enforcement to deal with poor care standards.
We have CQC reports published for two of our hospital sites. To view them, click on the related links to the left.
