STUDY TITLE

GenOMICC - Genetics of susceptibility and mortality in critical care

What is the study about?

Infectious diseases and severe injuries affect millions of people around the world every year. Most cases are mild, but some people become very unwell. Our genes (or DNA) determine how vulnerable we are to critical illness. If we could find the genes that cause some people to be more vulnerable, we may be able to develop better treatments for patients in the future.

Who can take part?

People with severe illness (such as Covid-19, influenza, sepsis and other causes of critical illness)

STUDY TITLE

REMAP-CAP: Randomized, Embedded, Multifactorial, Adaptive Platform trial for Community-Acquired Pneumonia and COVID-19

What is the study about?

COVID-19, flu, and pneumonia (lung infection) are all important current health problems. Current treatments for these are based on previous research used in international guidelines that help doctors to choose the best care. As new treatments become available more research is needed to see whether there are better and more effective treatments. The aim of this study is to investigate which treatments are best for patients admitted to hospital with COVID-19, flu, or pneumonia.

Who can take part?

Patients who have been admitted to hospital or to the Intensive Care Unit, who have or are suspected to have COVID-19, flu or pneumonia. Only patients who meet the study criteria and are considered suitable by their treating doctor will be included. The treatments available are dependent on the severity of the condition and eligibility criteria.
