Public can nominate for WUTH staff in Trust awards

Patients and members of the public are invited to nominate a team or individual to win a special accolade at Wirral University Hospital’s staff awards.

Wirral University Teaching Hospital will be hosting its Together Awards in November to celebrate outstanding achievements of its staff.

Nominations have now opened and patients along with members of the public are encouraged to get involved by nominating a team or individual at the Trust they feel deserves to win the Patient Choice Award.

The Trust runs Arrowe Park, Clatterbridge and Wirral Women and Children’s Hospitals and many people will have experienced excellent care by teams across those sites. This is an opportunity for people to give them recognition by nominating in the staff awards.

Janelle Holmes, Chief Executive at Wirral University Teaching Hospital, said: “The Together Awards recognise the achievements, excellence and dedication of the amazing staff who work in our hospitals.

“Many patients and their families often send thank you notes and cards to the people who have cared for them in the hospital. We would like our patients and the public to take that a step further and to be involved in recognising our staff, by nominating a special team or individual who they would like to win the Patient Choice Award.”

This is the first time the staff awards have been held since 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, making this an extra special event to recognise the Trust’s NHS staff who support the people of Wirral.

It will be an opportunity to celebrate not only the hard work of staff during the Arrowe Park Hospital’s 40th anniversary year in 2022, but also to recognise their efforts in meeting the challenges they faced during the pandemic.

One of the award categories is the Patient Choice Award. This recognises the team or individual whose actions have exceeded expectations. Members of the public will be asked to nominate a team or individual they feel deserve this award. The nominees will have shown compassion, empathy and concern for the well-being of patients, their families or carers.

The public and patients can nominate by visiting wuth.nhs.uk or clicking on this link: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/VFY6NMW

The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Tuesday, 27th September.

There will also be physical forms in reception areas at Arrowe Park and Clatterbridge hospitals.

Winners will be announced at the Together Awards at Thornton Hall Hotel on the evening of 25th November 2022.
